This should be on your to-do list from yesterday: Apply for the Sitka Residency offered through the Writer’s Dojo. The deadline is Friday, April 9, 2010. Yes, this Friday.
Why should you drop whatever you’re doing and go apply? Five minutes of browsing Sitka’s website should be enough to sway you, but here are more reasons:
1) You have better-than-average odds for winning because there are three, that’s right, three residencies available.
2) Each residency is a month long, which is a tantalizingly perfect amount of time to finish a project. (See: Nanowrimo).
3) You get to live in private, fully furnished quarters in a gorgeous location surrounded by other working creatives. Talk about inspiring.
4) The application is online, free, and relatively painless.
5) If you need a longer list of the how/why behind residencies, check out a great blog post by fellow writer Meghan Ward.
There are plenty more reasons, but time is running out. Go! Apply! Now!
Wow, great post. Love the voice and style here. Can’t wait to read more.
